Ugolin gives Papet the news about the newcomers. Maybe he's not as filled with treachery as Papet? What do you think?

    i think Ugolin may have been partly influenced by the friendliness of the new family - by being treated politely for a change. Papet is certainly cleverer and more manipulative. However U is keen to please Papet and seems to happily revert to his previous bad ways

    Phew - briefly I thought our hero had found the skeleton of a mule wearing saddle bags on the roof! So much scope for misunderstandings
