Well done Joyce - I thought I'd do it the lazy way...... This is definitely the most charming part of the book so far- Guiseppe is a woodcutter who left his brand-new bride, Baptistine, to make his fortune and reappeared 2 years later offering her a sort of garden of eden existence without the apple and the serpent. Fortunately she was in love and wholly delighted with the living arrangements. They managed to talk to Jean and family in a mix of Italian, French and body-language. Now for the homework!
