Poor old soul gets ink on his face while doing his best (and failing) to be understanding and tolerant. I like the boys' selective obedience - they don't laugh without permission when it suits them.
Yeas, but they are quite happy to get up and start a brawl when they are not supposed to... Perhaps today's kids aren't as bad as they seem... I have to say the ink on the inspector's face always makes me smile, because that is EXACTLY what would happen to me ;-)

Love this chapter. I can remember the mess the "ink monitor" made!! Never did mastered the skill of writing without blots !!
